Instinct 101

December 30, 2008 by Trent · 5 Comments

Instinct was considered an up and coming team when the opened the 2008 Season.  There were mixed expectations about where they should be and where they would place.  They had a decent opener in the Meadowlands.  Then they picked up Snipedown to replace Victory X who headed of to tD.  The finished 2nd in San Diego then dropped SD to rejoin with Victory X.  Mackeo caught a lot of heat for that transaction.  They finished 3rd in Orlando there were drastic changes.

Interview w/EnVyUs

December 16, 2008 by apollo · Leave a Comment

MLG Insider has the privilege of sitting down with BgR EnVyUs the 2nd place finishers at the 2008 CoD 4 National Championships in Las Vegas. We want to know what exactly it takes to be on the pro level and what their plans are for the 09’ season.

Apollo- Most people do not think of Call of Duty being an MLG game. What makes Call of Duty different than any other games on the circuit?

EnVyUs-Call of Duty 4 is by far the most intense fastest game on the circuit with game types like domination and sabotage the speed and intensity is nonstop. Game types like search gives the spectators a chance to settle down and see high quality strats and tactics at its finest.

Apollo- What got you into gaming?

EnVyUs-We all were around the amateur to semipro status for halo and joining tournies and watching other pros be successful makes you want to be greater or equal to what they have achieved..

Apollo-Do you play any other games other than Call of Duty?

EnVyUs-At the competitive level we’re at right now, it’s hard to play other games mainly because no other game is like Call of Duty.

Apollo-Tell us a little about your BgR Sponsor ?

EnVyUs-Well we were fortunate enough to come in contact with BragGameRights (BgR) about 3-4 months ago at a local tourney at their land center in Duluth. We clicked and began talking about making BgR a household name for gaming. BgR has done more for EnVyUs than we ever could of expected and we are so grateful to have a sponsor who is not only caring about who he represents but his players as well. You can get a wide range of stuff from Games to Xbox modifications and t-shirts. Pretty much Coy Christmas and BragGameRights is the people you want to talk to when it comes to gaming or LANing and all your Xbox needs.

Apollo-How did your team come together?

EnVyUs-Through season 1 of GameBattles. 3 of us already were trying to play this game on a serious level and we came in contact with another player who was on another team and told him about our plans and goals and the rest is history.

Apollo-How do you guys prepare for matches online?

EnVyUs-No different than any other team, we just like to go over the matches by scrimming and making sure everyone is on the same page. Because in a game like this where the maps can be big you need to make sure all areas are covered,

Apollo-How does it feel to be the first seed in the first event Call of Duty has ever been at? Does it feel surreal or anything like that?

EnVyUs- Going into Vegas as the number 1 seed meant a lot to us just do to the fact we are one of many teams that has stuck together. A lot of times when a team loses the point the finger and try and put blame on someone. At EnVyUs we feel it is nobody’s fault but our own. So we try and just prepare better for the next match if possible.

Apollo-When you first began playing Call of Duty could you see yourself being a pro gamer?

EnVyus- Quite Honestly Yes. We all knew that we wanted to achieve pro “status” at a game for 2008 and Cod4 was the one we chose. We just set our minds to it and just played through all the ups and downs. Overall it has been a great experience and we cant wait to see what 09′ brings.

Apollo-What is EnVyUs’s motto or something you stand by as a team?

EnVyUs- “Not just a team, Were a Family” this is said because a lot of the times you are looked at as just online friends and what not but you spend time with these people and they become friends. We have gained close friendship with a lot of people and to be honest we are thankful.

Apollo-Why did you choose Call of Duty over the other games out there?

EnVyUs-Cod4 has such a wide range of gun skill and tactics many games out their don’t have. You need to always be on point and hit your shots because at a pro level you only get one shot to take.

Apollo-What does it take to be the best at Call of Duty?

EnVyUs-Time and Practice. Quick reactions and not to get frustrated because as an individual player you can turn your whole team around and change a game.

Apollo-Have you made any money off of online tournaments for Call of Duty?

EnVyUs-Yeah, as a team we made 20,000 in tournaments and products of the 08′ season.

Apollo-Does your team plan on going into Call of Duty: World at War?

EnVyUs- Not sure yet. We are going to go in the same direction MLG goes.

Apollo-Do you have any shout outs to give out?

EnVyUs- Big shout outs to BragGameRights and all their employees, not to mention Coy for all the support and help he has shown us this season and the next. Also Pro Statz as well as “Kill3n” for coaching us in Vegas and in the future. Halifax for being a solid teammate for the Holiday Classic Tournaments. Last but not least all of our fans and people that always support us and cheer for us.

We would like to thank MLG INSIDER and Apollo for giving us the opportunity to do this interview.  EnVyUs “Always & Forever”
