uTi and CR
January 30, 2009 by Trent · 3 Comments
We have confirmed that Chilled Reality has in-fact dropped Slyfox for Eli. This makes CR: CallMeGod, Lilseb, ArtOfWar and Eli.
In other news we also have been told that Under the Influence will be back in 2009 with Twylight, Talent, Legend and Icevayne. We believe their coach will be Nextar.
Thanks for continuing to support MLG Insider and we’ll continue to keep you up-to-date.
Correction: Batmayne not IceVayne
Ambush VOD
January 30, 2009 by Trent · 2 Comments
I took some time and watched multiple VOD’s from all four players of Ambush. I came to a couple conclusions:
- This is a very good team
- I think they are very young and close but not quite ready to compete in the upper echeleon.
- In my opinion they are a lower top 8 team.
Here are the player breakdowns on each one strengths first, then weaknesses.
Chig
Strengths
Very Patient
Steady Br
Smart Player
Good team player
Weaknesses
Could be a little more aggressive at times
Needs to stay alive
Stay within his style of play (patient)
Tizoxic
Strengths
Very skilled
strong slayer
Tremendous map movement
extraordinary potential
Weaknesses
Too aggressive at times
Undisciplined
His lack of discipline gets him caught out of position at times
GunShot
Strengths
One of the more pure slayers I’ve seen
Uses great angles to gain advantages on opponents
good awareness
Stays alive
Steady Br – loses few battles/ solid sniper
confident
puts shots in everyone
Weaknesses
Biggest flaw is his tendency to be too individualistic
He needs to focus a little more on working as a team
Nexus
Strengths
Very smart player
unique map lines
great awareness
no skill set weakness
A tremendous team player – does what needs to be done
Weaknesses
Needs to stay alive more
Needs to know when to back down
This team can do very well the key will be Tizoxic. If he can correct a few things, he can round out a team that will only get better. Meadowlands prediction – 6th or 7th place
More Changes
January 29, 2009 by Trent · Comments Off
Quick update for today. If you haven’t already heard “Killer Drew” replaced Twylight on Captital punishment then they changed their name to “Heaven & Earth”. Also Get Kranked announced their roster to be for Meadowlands consists of Makowski, Silent, Epedemic & Brad.
TC Fear
January 28, 2009 by Trent · 3 Comments
Yes, it is TC Fear again. Fear rejoins Ant and Soldier187, along with Best Man, as the newest member of Team Classic. Defy left Classic to join with Karma and Naded as they look for a fourth.
A couple of options for Karma, Naded and Defy to look at are: Legend, Gandhi or possibly Eli. The most logical would be Gandhi. From what he told us he would enjoy teaming with Karma again as their separation was on good terms.
Edited 1/29 by Apollo- TC Fear comments on his new team and what happened.
Well as everyone knows I was teaming with Legend for the time being and things weren’t going as well as I’d hoped. We were having trouble finding good players, with points, that fit our play style. I just want to get back into the game no matter what, even if I had to go back through AM bracket with a new team. I couldnt be any happier with the decision I made to go with Classic. I have history with all of the guys on the team and know them all on a very close level. So me going back was without a shadow of a doubt a great decision.

Dersky Interview
January 28, 2009 by apollo · 3 Comments
What’s up everyone. I got to sit down with Dersky at the Burgh City Gaming League Lan center located in Harrisburg, PA. We spent sometime talking about his time with MLG; past, present and future. Here is what he had to say about it all.
Apollo: It’s great to be here in Harrisburg. Thanks for doing the interview.
Dersky: Yeah not a problem.
Apollo: What first got you into gaming?
Dersky: Well, my friends had xbox live and I would play with them. Then I got live and joined in with them. I did not really get into MLG until the end of Halo 2. I was good at halo 2 and I thought if I put enough time and effort into it, it would be worth it.
Apollo: If you could change one thing about the 2008 season what would it be?
Dersky: If I could change one thing about the 2008 season it would be having more time to LAN with the team before the event. It would also help to have a set team for the events?
Apollo: What does it feel like to be among the pros that find the next Classic here at the Burgh City Gaming League lan center?
Dersky: It feels great to be able to find better players and help them on their way. It’s a great opportunity to pass on my knowledge and my skills on to the players to possibly help them out in the future.
Apollo: What exactly happened with Driven By Adrenaline?
Dersky: Well it’s a long story. I saw at Toronto, Arkanum was just not gelling with them and I thought with a sick 4th that event they would have done better. Don’t get me wrong though Arkanum is a very skilled player. After the event I talked to Speed the team captain of DbA. I asked if they were still with Arkanum, he said after the event they felt he didnt gel and so he said he would for sure pick me up. Speed then went off for basic training in South Carolina and we (Hynes, Micro, myself) promised that we would wait for him to come back in December. Then right before Speed’s arrival back, Micro and Hynes decided to run games with Squirrel and Assault, so I got left out of the team to stay with Speed. When I messaged Hynes about if he was teaming with Assault and Squirrel he said him and Micro were just running games to see if anything was there to work with. I really didn’t feel like teaming with them anymore because of the fact that they ran games, so I left them and have been back and forth on teams and now it’s definitely NocturnalKernal and I now looking for 2.
Apollo: What are your thoughts on The Burgh City Gaming League?
Dersky: I feel that it is a great place with a lot of potential to become a very good LAN center, I feel the location of the place is perfect, because Harrisburg is sort of in the middle of the state and brings in a lot of players, the staff is really what makes me come to the LAN center all the guys are very funny but are serious about this and want it to grow to be a very big LAN center in the future, if things keep going how they should the LAN center will get additional rooms and make the place a lot bigger obviously. The only cons about the center is the space, I feel for a lot of people it gets too crowded and people don’t want to go outside when its -5 degrees ha-ha, but I feel it gives those gamers a chance to play against others and prove themselves.
Apollo: What are your goals for 2009?
Dersky: My major goal is to come in strong to the 2009 season. Hoping to place top 16 at least in every event, and being able to find strong team to stick together for the whole year. I am hoping to make this year my best year ever.
Apollo: Who are some potential teammates that you may be interested in picking up for the 2009 season?
Dersky: One person that NocturnalKernal and I want to team with is Assault, because he recently left Squirrel, Micro and Hynes because they were picking up snuff, and I feel that Assault is a very good player and I have played with him since I first played halo in general. There are two groups of two’s that Nocturnal and I have been looking at and that is Rephorik and Deviouz and the other group is Tuss and Nickel 9, hopefully I can team with one of those groups I stated but finding one with assault shouldn’t be a problem if he wants to team with us.
Apollo: If you could pick the perfect three teammates who would they be?
Dersky: Well, I would have to start with Neighbor. He is the best overall player in the league. He is an amazing team player and can lead the team in slaying. I would then pick Elamite Warrior. I watch his VoD’s a lot; he is a very solid and strong player. For the third I would pick Legit. He knows what he is doing and works well with Elamite Warrior
Apollo: What do you think of MLGinsider.com? Do you feel it does a good job of being accurate?
Dersky: I feel that it is a great site, I think this should be the place where all the information, and team changes and news about MLG should be posted. It helps the kids who don’t go to events, or don’t know if they should go to events, get a pro’s perspective on how MLG is.
Apollo: Alright man it was great to get to sit down and talk to you! Good luck in the 2009 season!
Dersky: Not a problem it was fun.
Post Interview Update:
Dersky and NocturnalKernal have since teamed with Tuss and Nickel 9 to form Flatline.

H3 Spawn System

Respawn Areas
This article was courtesy of Devinish, Thanks!!
Probably the some of the most mystical and intriguing things about the spawn system in Halo 3 are the respawn areas. If various spawn points are placed in a respawn area, they act like a joined unit. If something happens inside of the respawn area, it will affect all of the included spawn points. This is called the spawn point’s “weight.” Weight refers to the probability that a player will spawn there. Here are the factors that contribute to a spawn point’s weight, followed by the estimated weight of each factor:

To prevent that from happening it is suggested that you let the weapon sit for a half-second if you can afford to do that. If you have any questions or feel something is wrong please comment below. Status Quo
January 13, 2009 by Trent · 2 Comments
With all the talk about Strongside going to Status Quo, I figured it was worth taking a look at some of their film.
babyTotz - GP link: Totz
I really haven’t heard much about Totz other than he throws a good LAN. After watching his gameplay at the LAN he is a very controlled player, reminding me of Elamite or Roy. He plays very smart and has solid skill sets. His sniper is very solid and his BR is one of more steady that I’ve seen on the circuit.
One example is around the 2:00 mark. If you watch his play on Blue S2 you’ll see he is very precise in what he does; he works the tower almost to perfection, utilizing the cover and the angles from the tower wonderfully. He minimizes the lift airtime when going onto the tower keeping a low profile. Also, he utilizes a very well timed crouch to surprise CallMeGod on snipe ramp.
I took notice of his natural reflexes and responses, such as the quick scope on red training ramp around the 3:00 mark. I think he is a very sound fundamental player with great instinctual decisions.
Flamesword - GP link: Flamesword - 23 kills
Flamesword is a beast. He is very aggressive, fearless and has a knack for staying alive. This combination is both good and bad: His aggressiveness, at times, causes him to die when he shouldn’t, but at other times allows him to get the kills other players wouldn’t.
He throws a poor nade to start, but almost out BRs Cloud anyway. At the 1:40 mark he shows what can happen as a result of his aggressiveness and his steady BR. He out BRs CallMeGod for the spree after CMG got the first shot. At the 2:50 mark the aggressiveness pays off again with a triple and then just over three minutes into the game, he’s already on his second spree. He gets a third spree with the 50th kill, and finishes with 23 kills.
He has the potential to be very deadly. With the skillset he possesses, he reminds me a lot of Naded. He is very aggressive and that may put him out of place at times, but If he can keep it in check he can be a game changer.
Ace- VoD link: Ace
Ace is the one who will make or break this team. I think this is a big opportunity for him. He has exceptional skills, but is not always consistent and seems to lose focus at times. I would like to see his mental game improve a little bit more by not letting his emotions effect his game so much. On occasion, he will make a series of poor decisions based on frustration and then make a series of great one when he remains focused.
Strongside- GP : I watched numerous gameplays including Pit king and Amp TS from Vegas vs Instinct
There were two things that stood out to me about Side; the first is that even though he doesn’t get as much credit, his slaying skills are still some of the best on circuit. The problem I saw when you compare his Meadowlands play (which was his best tournament) to the end of the season (where he seemed to tail-off) is that he wasn’t relaxing. Anyone who follows the game had seen Side on stage looking like the “Big Chill”. He play best when he’s relaxed and lets the game come to him. When he’s still aggressive and confident, he isn’t forcing things like he appeared to do at the end of the season.
I am extremely confident that he will prove this season that he is still one of the best in the game.
This is a squad that will really surprise some people in Meadowlands. They’re more well rounded than most believe and are in for a year of consistent top eight placings. Possibly, if things go their way, they have the potential of finishing in the top three once or twice.

Og's 1 and 2
January 11, 2009 by Trent · 17 Comments
It appears we may finally have the answers regarding Final Boss and the retirement decision of OGRE 1.
First to OGRE 2: We have spoken to credible sources confirming that Final Boss is back. It appears that they will return in 2009 at Meadowlands featuring OGRE 2, Fearitself, Karma and Naded. This would be a very well rounded team with two beastly slayers in OGRE 2 and Naded, as well as two of the best all around players in FearItself and Karma. I’m not certain how they will place, although I will say that if this team gels well while adapting to the more aggressive play style of H3 they will bust quite a few brackets this year.
This brings us to OGRE 1. Obviously with OGRE 2 teaming with three others, there’s no room for his big bro. We did some research and have found out that as long as OGRE 1 doesn’t announce his retirement, he continues to get paid per his contract with MLG. This is NOT from him directly, but I would be fairly certain that you won’t hear of his retirement until just before Meadowlands, probably sometime in March. It only makes financial sense for him to wait as long as possible.
The retirement is still all speculation because he hasn’t officially announced it, but with OGRE 2 looking to team elsewhere and not reserving a spot for his brother, it’s pretty safe to assume the writing is on the wall.
